Home Artistry

Last night we attended a symposium on social media to ensure we are up to date with our business and using the tools to the best of their advantage. Social media is the new way of marketing a business. This is a major shift. Radio, television and newspaper ads have always been one-sided. In the past the designers’ tastes were reflected, not the homeowner’s. Design has evolved much like social media. A designer has to use the tools of the trade to interpret the space and make it a functional, true reflection of the home owner. It is no longer one-sided.

We have coined a new term…Home Artistry.

How does this differ from the traditional approach to decorating your home?

An experienced designer will question the wants and needs of the family and approach the project with an artist’s eye. Often homes become generic and “ho hum” and the uniqueness and diversity of the individual is lost. Your home should reflect more than just the big box store purchase that was a great deal! It should reflect your personality.

Every home owner should be injecting personal style into their space. We can help you achieve your vision and make it your own. How to start? Ask yourself, what are your favourite colours and your favourite furnishings? These are questions a Home Artist will ask when beginning a project.

Lately we at DAKTALK have been discussing projects we could create….just to use our new favourite colours. We have an old washstand that could use a facelift. How about high gloss black. Benjamin Moore’s factory black (133-80) is stunning. Ask the patrons of the Good Food Company in Carleton Place. The table tops were all updated with it years ago and still look classic and wear like iron.

Again, Benjamin Moore’s AF-560 FLINT, will transform a plain bathroom vanity into a conversation piece.
Just as soon as the weather is warm enough we have an exterior door that can hardly wait to be Para’s P2117-05 FORT VERMILLION.

Bring your latest project in and let’s get started!
